What is restyling?

Something old becomes new again.

The Alchemy of Style is a service whose mission is to help us all feel more in line with spaces where we live our lives, making us feel like us - who we are now - using what we already own.

Sometimes it is as simple as moving a vase and a lamp, switching up a painting from one room to another, finding an old treasure and using it again.

Same things telling different stories.

About Me

I started The Alchemy of Style to focus on restyling and staging people’s spaces

using what they already own!

Frequently Asked Questions

What does restyling cost?

Restyling is a deeply personal experience since you are letting me come to your life through your home to talk about what feels right and what

doesn’t and why.

That is why the consultation is free.

You get to check me out and get a sense of how I work and see how comfortable you are with me. You take me through what you are thinking, we toss around ideas, talk about what is most important to you and together, we begin to create a plan.

Your space and your desire are unique to you and that is why creating a written Scope of Work is essential and that SOW is how we figure out how much it costs to create what you want for your space.

Using only what you have or getting a few things to help put on the finishing touch, all of it is detailed in the SOW.

Costs for home restyling begin at $125.00 an hour. Packages begin at $300.

What can space restyling do for me personally?

Space restyling reawakens our seeing, creating a feeling of balance, nurturing contentment, and fostering inspiration in ourselves, by changing up the predictable to something unexpected.

You can think of it this way: Just like we use clothing to signal who we are, project what we want others to know about us, restyling allows our spaces to say, “This is me. This is who I am”.

How do you do it?

I follow 3 design rules:

1.   Negative space is essential; it allows you to see what is

2.   The rule of 1, 3, 5 – a set of simple numbers that create balance

3.   Depth and height, shift perspectives and provide visual interest

I work in person and online!

Undertaking a restyle...

...for a client is deeply gratifying. It is a collaborative, creative experience that generates feelings of energy and balance. Bringing out of the dark that which once held pride of place. The idea is to nurture seeds of contentment with what we have and foster inspiration in the spaces we live through fresh eyes.

My background is...

...rooted in event design and home staging. Both disciplines are unique- yet they share common demands to clear away visual noise, tell a story through the intentional placement of objects and furniture, and create opportunities for that which is old to become new again.

Restyling is about...

...reawakening, to extend our vision, and to open another way to express ourselves. Just as we use clothing to signal who we are now, restyling is a way for our spaces to say, “this is me, now.” By incorporating these intentionally placed elements, we achieve a sense of balance and beauty.

Testimonials

Jessica Rubie

/ Personal Assistant & Event Manager

I sought out Leslie when I needed help with two different but connected client events that took place over several days and on large properties. She designed and executed a cohesive look for both events from the floral arrangements to the place settings, to the Pendleton blankets around the fire. She worked magic for me and my client in an environment of very high expectations, limited time, and where being able to work as a team was essential. I wish all my events involved someone like Leslie.

Bess Kennedy

/ Architectural Designer

If I could bottle Leslie up and carry her in my pocket, I would. And if I did, I’m quite certain my life would be more colorful, more stylish and more all-around fabulous thanks to Leslie’s good influence.   Leslie has an uncanny ability to know just what you want even without you saying it out loud. She knows people, she knows flowers, she knows lighting, space and vibe and the importance of having everything look just so. She is it.

Planning on listing your home? Leslie is your #1 choice. When my colleague and I listed 8 newly built Craftsman Cottages they had not been selling.  Our first step was to bring Leslie in. She assessed the situation; saw they had an excellent product that was lacking in imagination for the buyer. Her choice was to stage two cottages buying a collection for two homes keeping within a small budget very tastefully done, extremely attractive and very on target. She is amazing.
